I spent a week at the Illustration Academy in Sarasota, Florida and found it to be an amazing experience. Sure, it was a little intimidating, a little humbling but ultimately inspiring, educating and valuable. The student to instructor ratio is low and the level of talent among the teachers is the highest imaginable. And generally the students weren't slouches either.
For my own purposes, I was really there to meet and learn from Gary Kelley and George Pratt. They did not disappoint. And as is my way, I was drawing the entire time so here are some quick sketches of the "professors"...
