L.A. Times kidlit illustration

Recently, I'd been asked by an editor at the LA Times to create an illustration for what they call "The Kids' Reading Room".  It's a special section of the the Sunday paper that appears in the comics section and features a different story for  children each week.  My first assignment was for a story about a little girl and her magic grandmother and how they take a trip to the moon on a flying scarf she knits.  Great material for me to play with visually.
